St Albans AMES drawings C

At St Albans AMES (Australian Migrant Education Service) we have been practising cartoon drawing and experimenting with how to tell our stories through pictures and words.
The final artworks were about the themes:
  • Homelands, Heartlands
  • future Hopes and Dreams.
  • A story about you - where you came from and where you are now
This work will be exhibited at Gallery Sunshine Everywhere during Refugee week in June 2012.

 Above: 'Hawaii" by Lan
A simple picture about a place that I want to go to in the future. I would like to travel everywhere, in every beautiful island. The first is Hawaii, the next is Caledonia.

This is the Pakistan Flag.
It has two colours, white and green.
White is for peace and green is for unity.
I find it hard to draw because I have no experience at this. In my childhood I didn't draw anything. This is the first time I have drawn, so I drew my country's flag.

Above:  My Big Dream
I want to be number 1 about everything ( happiness, fame, money)
"You are number 1, eveyone will remember you. You are number 2, you are nothing!"

In the future I want to be an engineer.

exquisite me!
find us on facebook too!

Exquisite Me is an arts project that explores the collective experiences, stories and representations of identities of young people in Sunshine and Brimbank. These experiences, stories and representations will be explored during various art and writing workshops run by  community artist Debbie Qadri. The artwork and writing will be displayed as a large collaborative work, in a number of venues in Sunshine, including Gallery Sunshine Everywhere. Some of the artwork and writing will be published in a zine format and also made into an artist’s book for the Sunshine Library. Workshops will be held at schools, community groups and at Council facilities such as the Sunshine Library .
Thankyou for your support and involvement -  AMES ( Adult Migrant Education Services), Marian College, Ardeer Primary School, Sunshine College, Sunshine Library and  Gallery Sunshine Everywhere.

The Exquisite Me Project and Gallery Sunshine Everywhere kindly acknowledges the support of the Brimbank City Council Community Grants Program.
