It was the second friday of painting our Exquisite Me figures. The figures are expressing things about ourselves. They are painted on three canvases, so they can be broken up and mixed with other figures as a metaphor for shared experiences and the complex identities that we all have.
We all tried to get our ground colours onto the canvases and completely cover them, and then begin to add the top coat and details with the professional artist's acrylic. So here is our progress so far. Next friday we will finish them off.
Exquisite Me is an arts project that explores the collective experiences, stories and representations of identities of young people in Sunshine and Brimbank. Community artist Debbie Qadri will work with young people in the community to make artwork and writing on these themes. This creative work will be displayed in a number of venues in Sunshine, including Gallery Sunshine Everywhere.
